Tariff Rate Change History

The rate, the source and the date it was last checked — for every lane on the site

Rebuilt 16 Oct 2026 · 38 rate entries · most recent verification 16 Oct 2026

Why a rate history page exists

A duty rate is not a property of a product. It is a number a government can move — through a Section 301 review, an anti-dumping sunset, a free trade agreement phase-in schedule, or a legislature arguing about the de minimis line. When the number moves, every landed-cost figure computed before it moved is wrong, and the failure is quiet: the calculator still runs, it just returns last month's answer.

Every lane on this site therefore stores three things that a tariff lookup normally discards: the date its rate was last checked against an official schedule, the source it was checked against, and a flag for lanes whose underlying policy is unsettled. This page is that record in full — 38 entries, every source, every date. Nothing here is generated at runtime; the tables you are reading are the database itself.

What follows is the database as it actually stands, including the lanes nobody has re-checked recently. The bulk of the site was swept on 15 July 2026 and the Gulf lanes were added on 14 September 2026. A two-month-old date is more useful to you than the impression that everything was confirmed this morning.

Duty de minimis abolished5 lanes — France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy. The 150 EUR relief was removed on 1 Jul 2026 and replaced by a flat 3 EUR duty per item
Duty de minimis conditional2 lanes — China → Mexico, China → United Arab Emirates. Relief here turns on how the goods arrive or which authority clears them rather than on value alone, so the corridor page states what qualifies

Three policy changes this database now reflects

Re-checking the corridors on 16 Oct 2026 turned up three changes that had taken effect since the previous sweep and were not yet in the data. None of them is a rounding adjustment: each one changes what an importer actually pays. They are recorded here because a threshold the market no longer grants is worse than no threshold at all — sellers price against it and discover the error at the border.

ChangeEffectiveWhat it doesLanes affectedSource
United States: $800 de minimis suspended 29 Aug 2025 The Section 321 administrative exemption was suspended for all countries, not just China, and CBP wrote the suspension into its regulations as indefinite in June 2026. Every parcel now needs an entry and pays duty regardless of value. Bona fide gifts of $100 or less, and personal articles accompanying travellers, remain exempt. 17 lanes E.O. 14324 / E.O. 14388; CBP Bulletin Vol. 60 No. 18; 91 FR 120 (24 Jun 2026)
Section 301 forced-labour duties 24 Jul 2026 A new Section 301 action imposes duties on 60 economies that do not bar imports made with forced labour. It is additive for China, Hong Kong, Vietnam and others (12.5%) and for the UK, Canada, Mexico, India and others (10%); it fills the total to 10% for the EU and Taiwan, China, and to 12.5% for Japan, Korea and Switzerland. It stacks with the existing Section 301 China lists and does not stack with Section 232 duties. 17 lanes USTR notice, FR 2026-15181 (28 Jul 2026)
European Union: €150 duty relief abolished 1 Jul 2026 The customs duty exemption for consignments up to €150 was removed. Those consignments now pay a flat €3 duty per item (per tariff heading, not per parcel) until 1 Jul 2028, when the normal tariff applies. VAT has been due from the first euro since 2021 and is unaffected. 5 lanes Council Regulation (EU) 2026/382; DG TAXUD guidance, 8 Jun 2026

The tier assignments above are held in one place in the data file (FORCED_LABOUR_301) so no corridor page restates them independently. Where a corridor also carries the older China lists, the corridor row says so — those duties stack, and this site tracks them in the Section 301 guide rather than guessing a per-corridor figure.

Verification status by lane

Last verified is the date the rate was checked against the source named in the final column — not the date the rate itself changed. Status reads stable when no policy movement is live, and under review when a review, sunset or legislative change is in progress. The dot carries the age of the check: green within 30 days, amber 31 to 90 days, red beyond 90 days.

Rate verification timeline

Every recorded check, newest first — 75 rows. A row is a verification rather than necessarily a change; where the recorded rate did move, the direction is shown against the previous check on that lane. The final column is the original wording from the rate database, kept as written rather than summarised.

Where the numbers come from

Each entry's own source string is in the status table above. The list below groups the same authorities by the body that publishes the schedule.

  • United States (17 lanes): USITC Harmonized Tariff Schedule 2026, Federal Register notices, USTR Section 301 exclusion lists (June 2026), CBP CSMS messages, Department of Commerce AD/CVD orders, USMCA Annex 4-B, WTO ITA Annex A and B
  • United Kingdom (5 lanes): UK Global Tariff 2026, HMRC notices including Notice 143, the UK Trade Tariff service
  • European Union (Germany, France, Netherlands, Italy): EU TARIC 2026, national customs authorities (German Zoll, French Douane, Dutch Douane, Agenzia Dogane)
  • Canada (2 lanes): Canada Customs Tariff 2026, CBSA D-Memorandum D8-2-2
  • Mexico: TIGIE 2026, Mexico SAT publications
  • Australia (3 lanes): Australian Customs Tariff 2026, ABF notices, AUSFTA and UK-Australia FTA schedules
  • Japan: Japan Customs Tariff 2026, RCEP implementation schedule
  • South Korea: KORUS FTA schedule, USITC HTS
  • Saudi Arabia and the UAE (2 lanes): GCC Common External Tariff, ZATCA (Saudi VAT and Customs), UAE Federal Tax Authority
  • Global reference entries: WTO World Tariff Profiles 2025, UNCTAD TRAINS database, national customs authorities

How often lanes are checked

  • Lanes with live policy movement (China → US, China → Mexico, the global de minimis reference): checked monthly, and immediately after a published change
  • FTA lanes and stable MFN routes: checked quarterly
  • Long-standing zero-rate FTA lanes: checked every six months
  • Any lane: re-checked within 48 hours of a major published change to its schedule

The dates in the tables above are what actually happened, including where a scheduled pass slipped. If you need a lane re-checked before its next pass, the corridor page names the schedule the number was built from — that is the document to quote if a clearance bill disagrees with our figure.

What "verified" does not mean

Verified means the rate was confirmed against the official schedule on the stated date. It does not mean:

  • The rate applies to your specific product — HS classification decides that, and classification disputes are the most common reason a computed figure and a customs bill diverge
  • The rate is a binding ruling — only the importing country's customs authority can issue one
  • Duty is the whole bill — brokerage, merchandise processing fees, harbour maintenance fees and inspection costs sit on top of the rate in this table

Check the figure with your customs broker before you file entry paperwork. DutyCalc hands you an estimate with a date and a source attached; your broker hands you the filing.
